At PMA, our tax attorneys assist clients with tax controversy and dispute resolution as well as tax litigation. Rather than merely providing support to our litigation group, the attorneys from our tax practice group are directly involved in all of the different procedural stages of tax litigation.

Our experience in these areas is vast and our attorneys have successfully represented clients at the administrative level as well as in the local and Federal courts. In particular, our tax litigation group represents clients in challenging assessments from the municipalities (municipal license taxes and municipal construction excise taxes), from the Puerto Rico Treasury Department (income, sales and use, excise and other taxes) and from the Municipal Revenue Collection Center (personal and real property taxes).

Our representation includes appearing at the administrative level in order to initially challenge the governmental authority assessment. From the filing of the complaint, the subsequent discovery and until judgment is entered into the case, our tax attorneys will use in your favor the experience acquired throughout the years in challenging tax assessments. Moreover, our tax attorneys directly participate in any appellate process, if necessary, before the Puerto Rico Circuit Court of Appeals as well as the Puerto Rico Supreme Court. Our tax attorneys will keep you informed throughout the various steps involved in the legal case.
